Lindsay Naab has been charged with second degree manslaughter, first degree vehicular manslaughter, and felony DWI (driving while intoxicated).
Police said Naab was heard arguing with her mother Annette, 57, around 1 a.m. m. on Sunday morning, just before Annette was struck and killed at the scene. About five hours before her death, the 57-year-old mother of two shared a disturbing post on Facebook updating her followers on how much she was enjoying the trip. “Family is everything! Enjoying the weekend with 3 very very special people!!!” she wrote posting photos of waterside sunsets and photos from a local music concert. “The 4 of us can climb any mountain and weather any earthquake together!” The images in the post included a sign reading: “I hate alcohol, oh look, alcohol” with an arrow indicating where the local pub is in the camp. Other images showed the sunset at a location labeled Pier Fifty-Three Brick Oven, a campground in Wolcott, about five hours northwest of New York City.
Police have yet to release the full details of what led up to Annette’s death, however camp owner Steve Lader told 13Wham that he was shocked by her death. “They were here for a day and a half, and I probably had five or six conversations with them, and there was nothing that would have led to something of that magnitude,” he said. ‘I know there was an argument because some of the neighboring campers heard it. ‘They were getting worried and starting to date [but] it had already developed. It was just a tragedy. Campers and emergency services tried to save Annette, who she also previously wrote that she is “grateful for two great daughters”. Police are still investigating the incident, but Lader told the outlet that he wants to believe it was all an accident.

“The conversations I had, there was nothing that led me to believe that there was something vicious about these people,” Lader said. “They just weren’t those kinds of people.” Tributes for Annette spilled over on Facebook with a friend talking about her heartbreak after hearing the news. “I am heartbroken after my dear friend Annette Naab passed away this weekend,” said Denise Gregory. ‘I’m a better person just for knowing you. You are a beautiful person inside and out and I am really going to miss our chats and good morning memes. ‘You lived life to the fullest so adventurous and all about your family. Thank you for being my friend, I will always cherish our friendship, I love you.’ Shanon Kole wrote: ‘My heart grieves for his family. She was so full of kindness, love, and positive vibes. ‘Heaven won a beautiful soul. May your family be covered with amazing grace and peace during this difficult time.’
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office jail inmate list, Lindsay has been released. Not much is known about the 26-year-old, except that she worked as a registered autism behavioral technician according to her Facebook. Lindsay turned 26 in January. Her mother, Annette, posted several photos of the couple together and with family and friends, describing her as “loving and compassionate.” ‘How could it have been 26 years since I first held this beautiful girl!’ wrote Annette on January 26 for Lindsay’s birthday. ‘Happy Birthday. I am so proud of the caring, compassionate and wonderful young woman you have become.’I hope you have the best day of your life! I love you so much my angel! Enjoy your day, Lindsay Naab. The post included photos of Annette and Lindsay, as well as Kelsey. Some images showed the mother and daughter drinking.
