Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, Robert De Niro’s grandson, died at the age of 19. Drena De Niro, 51, the Academy Award-winning actor’s eldest daughter with ex Diahnne Abbott, shared the tragic news on Instagram on Monday. She did not share the cause of death in her emotional statement. “My beautiful, sweet angel. I have loved you beyond words or description from the moment I felt you in my womb,” she wrote. “You have been my joy, my heart, and everything that was always pure and real in my life. I wish I was with you right now. I wish I was with you. I don’t know how to live without you, but I will try to continue and spread the love and light that you made me feel so much by becoming your mom,” continued the heartbroken mother.
“You were so deeply loved and cherished and I wish that only love could have saved you. I’m so sorry my baby, I’m so sorry @carlosmare. Rest in Peace and Eternal Paradise my dear child,” Drena added, referring to Leandro’s artist father, Carlos Mare, who shared a black image on her Instagram page. The young actor appeared opposite Drena in the 2018 film “A Star Is Born,” where he played the son of Dave Chappelle’s George “Noodles” Stone, who was best friends with Bradley Cooper’s Jackson Maine.

During his second marriage to former actress and model Toukie Smith, De Niro welcomed twin boys Julian and Aaron. The brothers, who are now 27 years old, were born via surrogacy in 1995. In 1998, De Niro and his then-wife Grace Hightower had a son, Elliot, and in 2011 a daughter, Helen, also born via surrogate.
