Layton Harrison, an eight-year-old youngster who died after being hit by a van, was described as “lit up every room he walked into” by his mother. Harrison was struck by a black Ford Transit at around 16:20 BST at Bilsborough Hey, Penwortham, Preston on August 1, Lancashire Police said.He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital but died a short time later.

Paying tribute, Stacey Bailey said that Layton was “the most energetic, happiest guy you’d ever meet. He would light up every room he walked into.”She added: “Layton was a boy well loved by everyone who knew him. He was my world and my best friend.”A part of me went with Layton the day he died.” She added that his caretakers were “the most selfless caretakers I’ve ever met; they adored Layton and loved him as their own.””RIP my beautiful baby, you will never be forgotten,” said Mrs. Bailey. Lancashire County Council earlier said Layton was in foster care, meaning a protective review had been launched.
