Brazilian fitness influencer Larissa Borges tragically passed away on Monday after suffering a double cardiac arrest of unknown causes. She was 33 years old. The gym bunny’s family confirmed her death in a post on her Instagram page. “The pain of losing someone so young, only 33, and so kind, is overwhelming,” the grieving family members wrote. “Our hearts are broken and the longing we will feel is indescribable.” They added that the social media star had “fought bravely” for her life. According to local media, the native of the Federal District had been hospitalized on August 20 after suffering a cardiac arrest while traveling through Gramado. Subsequently, Borges fell into a coma, where she remained for a week while her family reported her condition on social media. The disaster occurred after Borges suffered a second cardiac episode and died shortly after. The cause of the influencer’s death is still unclear; However, a preliminary investigation revealed that she may have been intoxicated at the time of her heart problems.

Cause of Death
To determine the root cause, authorities have scheduled a post-mortem examination of Borges’ body. “There are reports of possible ingestion of narcotic substances, accumulated with alcoholic beverages,” said Deputy Gustavo Barcellos of the ongoing investigation. “The body was sent for autopsy. We will try to search through laboratory tests for substances that she possibly consumed.” He added that the fitfluencer’s boyfriend had also given her testimony. Before her death, Borges had become a fixture on Instagram, where she regularly posted snaps of her toned physique and her idyllic vacation for her more than 30,000 followers. In one of the last photographs of her before her death, the fitness enthusiast could be seen posing in a winter coat at an indoor ski park. Her caption read, “I can believe in tomorrow.” After Borges’ death, the family pleaded with the public for donations to help them transport her body from Gramado to her hometown, the Mirror reported. “Any amount, however small, will make a difference and help ease the financial burden the family is facing during this very difficult time,” wrote a family member.
