Mathis reneged on the deal and allegedly assaulted the young man, identified only as KP, according to a Dickson County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit obtained by WSMV. The victim claimed to authorities that she was talking to her mother inside the house about receiving payment from him when Mathis approached him and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt before pushing him onto the couch, according to the document. police. Tennessee mayor charged after alleged fight with girlfriend’s son
“KP stated that his mother told them to finish it and for KP to go to his room,” the arrest affidavit states. When he began to walk away from the confrontation, the boy said Mathis “stepped on his feet” and the victim pushed him, documents state. That’s when Mathis allegedly grabbed the young man and punched him in the body, “standing on top of him in a sort of neck hold and began twisting and pushing his nose causing him pain,” the affidavit alleges. The age of the bride’s son was not revealed. Mathis was charged with domestic battery, WSMV reported. More than seven years ago, Mathis was hailed as a hero when he saved the life of the city’s former mayor when he suffered a massive heart attack on Aug. 11, 2016, according to a Tennessee report at the time. Mathis reportedly performed mouth-to-mouth CPR on his former political rival after Jeff Bishop collapsed while the two were working together on a floor after the former mayor began working for Mathis’ business. Mathis has been mayor of Burns, a city of more than 1,500 people, since 2012.
