Kristina Chambers, a wealthy woman from Texas, allegedly struck and killed a man while driving at 100 mph. She was charged with intoxication manslaughter in court on Wednesday, April 26, after losing control of her car with two passengers in it. The incident took place on April 20 at around 2:25 a.m. as Chambers was driving his blue Porsche 911 through the Montrose district of Houston.
The team of prosecutors alleges that she had been drinking heavily and four times the legal limit. Chambers lost control of her while trying to make a curve in the road and crashed into the sidewalk, where Joseph McCullin was walking with Brianna Iturrino on her first date. The victim was an audio technician and music lover, who wanted to go to a late-night donut place before the speeding vehicle struck him.

“We had gone to karaoke at AvantGarden. When we left, the taco stand was closed, but he knew that Voodoo would be open. He asked me if he wanted to take my car. I said, ‘Well, it’s not that far, we can walk. Fresh air,” Iturrino told KHOU. He saw a flash and then tried to find McCullin. His body was thrown about 30 feet from the rubble and he died at the scene.
“He loved music. It was one of the things we came together for. He said he wouldn’t sing, but he wanted to hear me sing,” she further said. The two passengers in the car were not seriously injured, but the man was carried unconscious from the scene. They have not yet been publicly named by the authorities. Assistant District Attorney Kelly Marshall told the court during the hearing that Chambers’ actions warrant criminal charges. “There was a lot of alcohol in her system,” Marshall said. She further said traces of suspicious drugs, possibly Adderall and cocaine, were also found in her bag.
Chambers defended herself, telling police that she had a beer at 9:30. pm and nothing else before the accident at 02:30 am, according to the Daily Mail. Judge Te’iva Bell ordered Chambers held on $50,000 bail and barred him from driving unless he has a job. Chambers will install a landline phone at his home to show that he is following court orders. “Good people are drawn to good people, and Joe had nothing but great people supporting him, loving him, and cheering him on,”.
