Kristen ‘Miami’ Mitchell, a top female Australian wrestler, died at the age of 36. ‘She will be dearly missed by all of those who have ever had the opportunity of knowing and working with her,’ Wrestling Radio Australia stated in a statement. ‘Her lovely heart and bubbly cheerful attitude are how we will all remember her, and the world is a darker place today as a result of her death.’
Mitchell pioneered the way for women’s wrestling in South Australia and is recognized as an ‘irreplaceable friend and mentor’ to the Australian wrestling community.
Rhea Ripley, a WWE star, also paid tribute to Mitchell, writing, ‘Thank you for the memories… rest peacefully.’

Mitchell competed in Riot City Wrestling in Adelaide before moving to Melbourne to work at Melbourne City Wrestling, where she competed against some of women’s wrestling’s biggest names, including Ripley (Demi Bennett), KC Cassidy (Cassie Lee), Shazza McKenzie, and Toni Storm.
She has been hailed as a ‘fierce, formidable, and brave’ opponent whose work off the big stage helped shape the future of women’s wrestling. Kristin’s contributions were invaluable behind the scenes,’ Melbourne City Wrestling stated in a statement.
‘She encouraged the next generation of talent to never give up and to chase their aspirations while leading the MCW Academy donning many hats as a trainer and mentor. Our business, and the entire Australian wrestling community, have lost a friend, a mentor, an irreplaceable person with an infectious smile, never ever giving up – ‘It’s a great day to go after your ambitions,’ he said.
