Kouri Darden Richins, 33, of Summit County, was arrested Monday for allegedly poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, on March 4, 2022, at their house on Willow Court in Kamas, according to KUTV. According to officials, she is charged with first-degree aggravated murder and three counts of second-degree possession of a dangerous substance with intent to distribute. On the night of Eric’s death, police arrived at their residence at about 3:20 a.m. and discovered him at the foot of the bed. “Life-saving measures were attempted, but Eric was declared deceased,” according to court documents reported by KSL-TV.
Kouri allegedly told police she made her husband a Moscow Mule out of vodka and presented it to him in bed to celebrate the sale of a home for her company. Utah author of book on grief charged with husband’s murder
Police got a search warrant for Kouri’s phone and laptops, according to court filings, and discovered many contacts between her and an “unnamed acquaintance.” On May 2, investigators allegedly interviewed the acquaintance, who was charged with numerous counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and other drug-related offenses. According to the records, Kouri allegedly requested “prescription pain medication for an investor” between December 2021 and February 2022.
