Kimbrady Carriker Wiki – Kimbrady Carriker Biography
Kimbrady Carriker, 40, will be arraigned Wednesday on murder charges, according to the district attorney’s office. Carriker also faces charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and simple assault, among others. The shooting was a “deliberate, premeditated and random murder carried out with an assault rifle,” Krasner told CNN. “He was someone who set out to kill strangers, which of course has become all too common in the United States,” Krasner said. The suspect “appeared to have no connection to any of the victims,” he said, and the victims did not appear to have a connection to each other. It is unclear if Carriker, who prosecutors refer to using the pronouns they/they, has an attorney. Authorities say the suspect appeared to shoot at random throughout several blocks of Southwest Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood Monday night before officers arrested Carriker during a foot pursuit. The suspect had an AR-style rifle, a 9mm pistol and a scanner that tracks emergency response radio traffic, and she was wearing a bulletproof vest and ski mask, authorities said.
Kimbrady Carriker is 40 years old.
Philadelphia shooting victims identified
On what was supposed to be a beautiful summer afternoon, this armed and armored individual wreaked havoc, firing a rifle at his victims seemingly at random,” Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said at a press conference Tuesday afternoon. The shooting killed Daujan Brown, 15; Lashyd Merritt, 20; Dymir Stanton, 29; Ralph Moralis, 59; and Joseph Wamah Jr., 31, police said. Wamah’s body was found in a home early Tuesday, while the others were found late Monday, authorities said. Two boys, ages 2 and 13, were shot in the legs and are in stable condition, police said. A 33-year-old woman and a 2-year-old boy were injured by glass, authorities said. The two 2-year-old boys are twins who were traveling in a car with their mother when they were shot, authorities said at a press conference Tuesday. Carriker faces five counts of murder, five counts of attempted murder, 10 counts of assault, 10 counts of recklessly endangering another person and four weapons counts, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The Philadelphia district attorney’s office is using the pronouns they/they to refer to the suspect based on “information that we have at this time,” an office spokesperson told CNN. Philadelphia officials previously used he/he pronouns to refer to the suspect during a news conference Tuesday. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is expected to provide an update on his office’s response to the shooting at a news conference Wednesday. The shooting is one of at least 350 mass shootings in the US so far this year, according to the Archive of Gun Violence. CNN and the file define a mass shooting as one in which four or more people are shot, not including the shooter. Monday’s shooting in Philadelphia occurred during a holiday period marked by deadly gun violence in parts of the country. At least three people were killed and eight wounded in a shooting Monday night in Fort Worth, Texas. The day before, two people were killed and 28 wounded in a shooting in Baltimore. Tuesday marked one year since a shooting at a Fourth of July parade in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park killed seven people and wounded others.
Philadelphia shooting: Police Investigation Report
As the investigation into the shooting continues, grief has overwhelmed Marie Merritt, whose youngest of five children, Lashyd Merritt, was killed Monday. Her son was heading to a store to buy a snack when he was shot, Marie Merritt told CNN affiliate WPVI. “You took my son. You took my baby,” Marie Merritt told the outlet. “He was my prize. He was my number 1 award, and he knows it. … I miss him a lot.” Investigators believe Wamah, the victim who was found dead inside a home in Kingsessing, was the first person killed in the Monday night shooting, authorities said Tuesday. Wamah’s father found her body in a living room around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, the city’s Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said. Wamah had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead shortly after by responding medics, Small said. Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney on Tuesday called on lawmakers to address gun legislation. “I am frustrated and outraged that mass shootings like this continue to occur in communities across the United States,” he said. “This country needs to reexamine its conscience and figure out how to get guns out of the hands of dangerous people. … We are begging Congress to protect lives and do something about America’s gun problem.”
Police learned of the shooting around 8:30 p.m. Monday, when officers were called to the crime scene and found several people with gunshot wounds, according to Outlaw, the Philadelphia police commissioner. “As they were picking up the victims and preparing them for transport to the hospital, they also heard multiple gunshots in the street,” Outlaw said. After responding to the second site of the shooting, officers again heard more shots on a nearby street, he said. Officers followed the sound of gunshots and pursued the suspect, who authorities say fired a rifle as he fled the scene. The shooter was apprehended in an alley, Outlaw said. At least 50 bullet casings were recovered after the shooting and vehicles were damaged, Outlaw said at a news conference Monday night.
