Kimberly Zapata Accused of electoral fraud

Cavalier Johnson announced at a press conference Thursday that Kimberly Zapata’s actions may have been to show that voter fraud was possible.

He also indicated that Zapata committed the act outside of work and was fired immediately after revealing the news to city officials.

He was already on leave for a personal matter.

I will not accept, will not tolerate, and certainly will not defend any misrepresentation by a city official involved in the election,” he said in a statement. “Never mind that this was an effort to expose a vulnerability that state law created. It doesn’t matter that this alleged crime did not take place at work. Never mind that the City of Milwaukee ballots weren’t part of it. It also doesn’t matter that there was no attempt to illegally vote or manipulate the election results. This has all the appearances of being a blatant and blatant breach of trust, and this matter is now in the hands of law enforcement.”

Milwaukee County prosecutors are considering charging Zapata with embezzlement in office, a felony, and unlawfully soliciting a ballot, a misdemeanor.
