Suspect arrested after mother and small daughter discovered dead under the mattress in New Jersey house
Atasha Scott, who identified herself as the homeowner’s sister, told NBC that the victims were murdered by Kelsey’s uncle, the homeowner’s brother. According to Scott, after being ordered to leave the house, the uncle killed his niece and sister-in-law with an axe before fleeing in Morrison’s BMW. The bodies were discovered by the homeowner when he returned home from work on Wednesday, she claimed.
Although Roselle schools were momentarily ordered to remain closed on Wednesday afternoon, officials later reassured neighbours that there was no threat to the public, according to WABC. The corner house was still a crime scene as of Thursday afternoon. We were surprised to hear about it, and nobody knew what was going on until they saw the police presence,” neighbour John Bambino told CBS News.
“I’ve never seen anything; it’s a very quiet and pleasant neighbourhood.” Something like that may happen, which is rather frightening,” Alicia Mendez added.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office will issue an update on the case later Thursday.
