Kawsu Samba, 34, The family of the victim who was shot dead during a disagreement with an MSI Auto customer is mourning the loss of their loved one.
Kawsu Samba’s family describes the 34-year-old as a kind, easy-going and hard-working man who did not deserve to be shot dead at his job during a dispute over a rental car on Monday. Three days after Samba’s murder, his family from Washington, New York, Colorado, and elsewhere gathered in Madison to support each other in his grief.
Kawsu was born in Gambia, Africa, and later moved to the United States in 2011. He graduated from university with a degree in accounting and finance. After coming to the US, he wanted his family to do the same to help sponsor his siblings. He paid for her younger sister Absa Samba’s housing and helped her build a community in the United States.

Everyone was special to him. That’s how he was,” Absa said. “He was always trying to unite everyone. He wanted everyone around him to be happy. He will do anything to help anyone he comes across.” The last time Absa spoke to his brother was a week before he was shot to death to discuss his master’s degree graduation ceremony. Kawsu’s older sister, Ngenarr Samba, last spoke to him at a family gathering in The Gambia. She rushed to Madison from his Seattle home after learning that he had become a victim of gun violence. I never got to see him again and I will never have the chance to see him again,” Ngenarr said.
According to a criminal complaint, suspect Jakira Anderson claimed that Kawsu was aggressive towards her and that he acted in her own defense. Kawsu’s family members said that he would never behave aggressively toward anyone. I want everyone to know that Kawsu wouldn’t even hurt a fly,” Ngenarr said. ”Kawsu is never a violent person. He would be the last person to have an altercation with anyone.” He recently completed two months of marriage and was expecting his first child with his wife.
