A 34-year-old man has been detained on suspicion of murdering Katie Higton, 27, and Steven Harnett, 25, at her Huddersfield home. Her two daughters, ages nine and ten, are thought to have been present when she died.
The grieving family has paid homage to an “outgoing mother-of-four” who was discovered dead alongside another man at her Huddersfield home. A double murder investigation has been launched after the deaths of Katie Higton, 27, and Steven Harnett, 25, were discovered in Harpe Inge, Dalton.
On Monday about 9.50 a.m., police were called to the address after paramedics reported discovering two victims with numerous injuries. West Yorkshire Police said a 34-year-old male is being held in custody on suspicion of the killings. Mr. Harnett’s former brother-in-law, who did not want to be identified, stated that his brother had been in a relationship with Ms. Higton for seven years and was the father of her two eldest daughters, ages nine and ten.
Ms. Higton was described as “bubbly, outgoing, and fun” and a “great mum” by him. As part of the murder investigation, West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team are continuing to explore a wide range of operations near Harpe Inge. This has clearly been an exceptionally serious offense,” Detective Superintendent Marc Bowes said. “I can assure residents that a full investigation into the murder of this man and woman is ongoing.”
