Kate Roughley, 36, a woman has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a girl who suddenly became ill at a daycare center.
Nine-month-old Genevieve Meehan suffered a “medical episode” at Tiny Toes Day Nursery in Cheadle Hulme, Greater Manchester, in May last year. Kate Roughley, 36, has now been charged in the baby’s death. Roughley, of Heaton Norris, appeared at Tameside Magistrates Court on Tuesday 15 August, facing a charge of manslaughter. She was rescued ahead of her next appearance at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on 19 September.

Greater Manchester Police stated: “These charges relate to an incident which took place at Tiny Toes Nursery on Mellor Road in Cheadle on Monday 9th May 2022.” The force previously described how the ambulance service called officers just before 3:20 p.m. m. on Monday, May 9, to inform you that the baby suffered a medical episode. The girl was rushed to the hospital where she sadly died the same day. In a tribute, Genevieve’s ‘devastated’ family spoke about the loss of her ‘wonderful, unique and special person’. “She had the most beautiful smile and lovely emerald eyes,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
