Kara Alexander, 45, a mother pleaded not guilty to murdering her two young sons whose bodies were found by their father when he forced his way into their home.
Kara Alexander is charged with the death of five-year-old Marley Thomas and two-year-old Elijah Thomas. The brothers were last seen alive on the afternoon of December 15 last year. The father went the next day to the address in Dagenham, east London, where Alexander told him the children were sleeping upstairs, but when he went to check he found them dead. Police and ambulance crews rushed to the scene and the two boys were pronounced dead. Apparently, the defendant was found in a nearby garden and detained by the police.

Mother pleads not guilty to murdering her two young children
On Thursday, Alexander appeared at the Old Bailey for a plea hearing before Judge Richard Marks KC. Prosecutor Philip Evans, KC, previously said: “The children were last seen alive on CCTV footage together with the defendant in the late afternoon of December 15.” On December 16, around 2 pm, the police were called because the children’s father was concerned for his well-being. He had entered the house, and having broken in, he was told that the children were sleeping upstairs. But when he went to look for them he discovered that they were obviously dead and cold to the touch.
‘He called 999 and an ambulance attended and found the deceased children. Autopsy results are yet to be obtained, but initial subtle findings are understood to indicate that the normal mechanics of breathing were interfered with, which could include suffocation and drowning.” She denied two murder charges on or before December 16 of last year. Alexander, who is in custody, is due to stand trial at the Old Bailey on July 10. The judge set a new pretrial hearing for May 18.
