Julia McSorley, 75, died along with two relatives when the minibus they were riding in collided with a vehicle.
Ms. McSorley’s requiem Mass was held on Sunday. On Monday, a funeral will be held for the two other fatalities, siblings Dan and Christine McKane. The incident also harmed four additional people. Ms. McSorley was described as a “beautiful soul” by Fr Roland Colhoun, who spoke to mourners at St Eugene’s Church in Glenock, County Tyrone. She willingly put everyone else’s wants ahead of her own, according to Fr Colhoun, adding that she “didn’t know the word ‘no.'” She was “always generous, with her time, her possessions, and to strangers alike.” “Julia never wanted to be first, but in many ways she was,” he explained. At her funeral, she was described as one in a million, number one in her family’s hearts.”
Fr Colhoun said the town had been “engulfed in grief” since the incident on Thursday, which he said must have been a terrifying experience for first responders. “The loss of three family members, injury, and death all at the same time,” he explained. “We include Collete and Ina, who are still in the hospital, and William and Anne-Marie, who have been discharged, in our prayers at Mass today.”
