Chavez died at 1:35 a.m. m. on Monday, just a few hours after her admission. Family members told the Chronicle the only symptom she had was occasional bruising, but they chalked it up to her being a bit of a tomboy.
Her teacher, Caroline Pinkston, said her fifth-period class is not the same.
“Julia was the kindest, big-hearted girl I think I’ve ever met; even her voice when talking about her was sweet. She would talk to anyone and make them feel like friends,” Pinkston wrote.
Julia will be buried in Grovetown on Friday.
