Joseph Castorena, a 21-year-old man who police say “has a history of domestic violence,” was still on the run as of Sunday afternoon.
His partner, an adult woman, and two “very small children” were found alive in the house unharmed. Three adult men and one woman were found dead.
The suspect is armed and dangerous,” they wrote on Sunday morning. “Call 911 if he sees it or knows where it is.”
Interim Aurora Police Chief Daniel Oates told reporters at a news conference Sunday that officers received a suspicious activity call shortly after 2 a.m. in that house on North Geneva Street.
He identified the person he called as an adult woman who was Castorena’s common-law partner. The chief noted that Castorena was the subject of a recently filed restraining order, which prohibited him from approaching that common-law couple and the North Geneva home.

The 21-year-old “has a history of domestic violence,” Oates said.
The suspect, however, allegedly broke that restraining order through his actions on Sunday. Oates said the person who took the 911 call heard gunshots and updated the call to an urgent response.
When the police arrived, they found a woman (not the domestic partner) and three men dead. One of the victims was outside the residence and the other three were inside. The common-law couple and two very young children were physically unharmed, Oates said.
Otherwise, the authorities did not identify the victims.
Officers said Sunday they completed their search of the neighborhood, but Castorena remained at large. He did not appear when officers searched the nearby home of his family.
We have to assume he is armed,” the chief said. “And we are very concerned and we want to do everything we can to find it and stop it as soon as possible.”
Officers describe Castorena as having a slim build. He is five feet four inches tall.
“What he is wearing today is unknown. Note the lion tattoo on his neck,” they said, referencing his mugshot from a previous arrest.
