Jordan Sorenson, a Utah sex offender is facing new charges after authorities say police found a missing 14-year-old Arizona girl in his basement.
Jordan allegedly struck up a conversation with the teen on TikTok and later found her on Snapchat, where he convinced her to share her address under the pretense that he was going to send her food, 12 News reported. On Jan. 27, the 26-year-old showed up at her home, making the teen feel unsafe because she told him “bad things would happen” if she left him or ignored him, according to 12 News.
The 14-year-old girl had an ankle monitor, but Sorenson allegedly cut it off and took her back to Utah with him, turned off her phone, and bought her a new one so she couldn’t be tracked, KSL reported. While she was in Sorenson’s presence, she was allegedly sexually assaulted multiple times, but she couldn’t run away from her because she didn’t feel safe and she thought she would track down her new phone, according to KSL.

According to a Utah Department of Corrections news release, Sorenson is a sex offender who was on probation at the time of the arrest. He was convicted in 2020 of first-degree felony aggravated sexual extortion of an adult, according to the statement. Investigators arrived at Sorenson’s workplace after receiving information from Arizona officials suggesting Sorenson was connected to the girl’s disappearance, the statement said.
Officials took him back to his home and searched the residence and found the missing teen in the basement, according to the statement. Thanks to the swift actions of our officers and cooperation with investigators from the Attorney General and the West Valley City Police Department, this young woman was found safe,” said Dan Blanchard, director of probation and adult probation. “Officers act on a number of leads every day, and in this situation, they helped locate this child. Sorenson has been charged with probation or probation violation and aggravated sexual extortion of a child. He is currently being held in the Salt Lake County Jail without bond, according to jail records.
