“History of the game is a big part of why I play and one of the reasons why I play, and Seve being one of them,” Rahm added, whose father began playing golf after watching Ballesteros guide Europe to victory in the 1997 Ryder Cup at Valderrama. “If it hadn’t been for that Ryder Cup in ’97, which my father and I talk about all the time, we don’t know where I would be or where we would be as a family.”

“It’s incredibly meaningful for me to finish it on the 40th anniversary of his victory, his birthday, and Easter Sunday.”

“To finish it off the way I did, an unusual par, very much a Seve par, it was an unintentional testament to him, and I know he was pulling for me today,” he concluded.
