John Swiety Wiki – Bio
John Swiety was last seen near a property on Old Kent Road, Nurran on the night of 17 March. John’s two dogs, two small terriers, were found by a passer-by wandering near the road on the Bonang Highway, north of Orbost, on 18 March.
Police have requested information and video from the dash cam as they continue to investigate the disappearance of a man in south-east Victoria. Suspicious circumstances are being investigated in the disappearance of Morwell resident John Swiety, last seen at Nurran in East Gippsland on March 17.

John Swiety is 57 years old.
Swiety disappeared after being driven to rural community
Police believe Swiety was heading to Goongerah in a white Toyota Hiace van driven by his owner around 2 a.m. Concerns were raised the next day when Mr Swiety’s two microchipped terriers were found wandering near a road north of Orbost. Vets contacted Mr. Swiety’s sister, who later reported him missing. Detective Inspector David Dunstan said the van had been found stuck on a dirt road and was being forensically examined for evidence. The owner of the van had been located and was cooperating with police.
“He was traveling with John to the location in Goongerah, then left that location and dropped John off at the location on his own account,” he told reporters Det Insp Dunstan. “He has been able to tell us that they were traveling there to visit someone, we don’t know who that person is,” he said. The reason for the meeting was also unknown.
“John left the location for a period of time. The person who was in the van stayed there for several hours. John had not returned and left,” Detective Insp Dunstan told reporters. The driver was not currently a suspect and police did not know the exact location where Swiety left the van, Det Insp Dunstan said. Swiety was known to the police. “He had some low-level drug history, so this is an avenue we’re obviously exploring,” he said. East region detectives had conducted extensive searches of the local area and found no evidence that Mr. Swiety had traveled elsewhere. “The circumstances of his disappearance are suspicious in our opinion…we believe he has been met with foul play,” Det Insp Dunstan said.
