Arrested after allegedly beating his son and choking his son’s boyfriend
According to the affidavit detailing his arrest, Joe told police that he got into a violent altercation with his son after receiving “a call from a neighbor that there was a suspicious car in his front yard.” He claimed that his son “tried to attack him, which caused him to physically immobilize him.” Joe also said his wife separated the two, the New York Post reported.
Joe said he grabbed his son’s friend by the hoodie “to get his attention.” However, his son Lucas claims that he was sitting in a vehicle parked on the property when his father tried to open the door and assaulted Lucas and his friend. The affidavit reads: “Lucas reported that his father opened the right rear passenger door.” His father then “grabbed [the passenger’s] hood and was choking him.” His father then hit him, causing his lip to bleed, and then hit his friend. Lucas mentioned that his father then displayed a firearm and told him and his friend “that they were lucky to have seen who it was,” the New York Post stated. But Joe claims he told Lucas and his friend that he was carrying a firearm, but denied pointing the gun at them and also denied the accusation of hitting his son’s friend, MSN reported.
His co-host, Jeff Rickard, said at the time: “Joe, quite frankly, made statements that were very insensitive to a lot of people who are fighting for their rights and feel like his voices haven’t been heard. And it’s time they were heard after the murder of George Floyd,” Outkick reports.
