Jim McLaughlin and Mary McLaughlin, an elderly couple who were found dead in a house on the outskirts of Newry, County Down, three days ago, are believed to have died some time ago, police said.
They have been locally named as husband and wife Jim and Mary. His remains were discovered at his home on Greenan Road, between the village of the Burren and the town of Newry, on Thursday. Post-mortem examinations were carried out and police said the deaths are not currently being treated as suspicious, but investigations are ongoing.
Jim McLaughlin and Mary McLaughlin was not mentioned.

It is understood that the couple had not been seen in the area for some time. Police cordoned off the home while forensic investigators examined the scene on Friday. Newry, Morne and councilor Declan McAteer told BBC News NI on Friday that they believed the couple had no close relatives living nearby. He said the couple did not have much contact with the local community, but their neighbors were very shocked and saddened by the discovery of their bodies.
