Jeremy Sherland, an Arkansas father, is facing a criminal charge after being arrested for piercing his son’s ear on Thursday. The incident started during a Tontitown Police Department welfare check after a Springdale High School resource officer reported a teenager telling classmates that his inebriated father “put him in a choke hold and shoved the piercing in his ear,” authorities said in a statement.
Jeremy Sherland, 45, admitted to piercing his son’s ear but refused to allow officers to talk with him — and refused to answer any further questions. The mayhem seen on camera was ignited when police returned in force with an arrest warrant issued by the Washington County Prosecutors Office.
Four stoned-face officers were seen inside Sherland’s home, forcing the father against the wall and putting handcuffs on the man, according to a TikTok recorded by Sherland’s son. “I wanted my ears pierced,” Sherland’s youngster says to cops in the now-viral video.

As uncertainty grew, Sherland’s wife went over to the officers and demanded to know why they were in the house and why they had arrested her husband. “Why are you doing this?” Sherland’s kid inquired of the officers as they assaulted his father.
During the ruckus, an officer informs the woman that the father is being arrested for “body art without a license,” to which Sherland laughs exaggeratedly and sarcastically repeats the officer, who appears perplexed by the charges. Officers then attempted to remove the father out of his home, but Sherland fought back, causing officers to throw him out the front door.
As officers marched the enraged father down the suburban street, his wife and son followed, both stunned by the incident. “It takes three or four cops to enter my house without permission.” No permission and busted in my front door,” his wife yells at the cops as they accompany her cuffed husband to their trucks.

Prohibited from performing body art on a person under sixteen
“I wanted my ears pierced,” Sherland’s son yells as the officers load his father into the patrol car. Artists in Arkansas are prohibited from “performing body art on a person under sixteen (16) years of age, regardless of parental consent.” It is a Class D felony to violate that statute.
Because Sherland was not a licensed artist, it was also prohibited for him “to perform body art in any unlicensed facility.” The father was additionally charged with harming a minor’s welfare, refusing to submit to arrest, and hindering governmental operations.
According to online records, Sherland was released on a $1,500 bond Saturday after spending two nights in the Washington County jail. “Officers informed Jeremy that he was being arrested and explained the probable cause for his arrest.” Jeremy refused to cooperate. Officers subsequently took him into custody,” according to the statement.
