Jeffrey Myers Lacortiglia, a man from North Carolina drove over 500 miles in nearly eight hours to confess to his mother that he had murdered his wife. Jeffrey Myers Lacortiglia was detained in Ohio on Sunday, April 30.
The 43-year-old man allegedly shot his wife to death before walking into the Hamilton Township Police Department to alert officers about the crime he committed at his Spring Lake, North Carolina, home. According to Law and Crime, he allegedly told Ohio police that the body will be discovered inside their master bedroom. On April 30, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina was called by the Hamilton Township Police Department in Ohio to confirm Lacortiglia’s account of the incident.

Suspect in the Murder of his wife Blanca Lacortiglia, Arrested
Tarheel State police visited the defendant’s house the same day to do a welfare check and received no response after knocking twice on the door. Lacortiglia then handed the Ohia police the garage entrance code, and the deputies began their search after entering the garage. After discovering Blanca Lacortiglia dead on a bed inside their Swain Street home, the officers realized the murder story was true. A gun and a handgun magazine were discovered on the bed close to the 37-year-old woman’s body. Deputies discovered a terrifying letter on Lacortiglia’s counter that said, “I’m sorry. “I adore you.” Following the fatal incident, the alleged killer drove through several states before arriving in Ohio, where his mother lived. He then told his mother that he didn’t know what to do after the murder, and she persuaded him to turn himself into the police.
After Blanca’s body was discovered, the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office obtained a warrant for Lacortiglia. Harnett County Sheriff Wayne Coats announced in a press release, “Lacortiglia is in the custody of Hamilton Township Police,” adding, “No further information will be released at this time.” The couple’s 8-year-old son is currently staying in Ohio with the alleged killer’s father. According to Law and Crime, the defendant is being held without bond at the Warren County jail.
