Jazreanna Sheppard, a 21-year-old woman and young mother known as ‘a beautiful soul,’ was brutally stabbed outside a subway station in downtown Boston as officials continue to search for the suspects.
Sheppard was fatally stabbed multiple times on July 20 outside the Park Street MBTA station on Boston Common in the area of 121 Tremont Street, authorities said. Earlier that day, officers had responded to a report of a woman being stabbed. When they arrived on the scene around 11:43 p.m. m., Sheppard was found in desperate condition with numerous stab wounds. She was taken to the hospital, but she died two days later from the injuries she sustained in the heinous attack. The Boston Police Department PIO and Detective Sargent John Boyle told DailyMail.com on Friday that “no arrests have been made yet and it is an ‘active investigation’.” “We urge anyone with information to contact us,” he said. The family described Sheppard as a “wonderful sister, mother and friend, who touched the lives of those around her.” The young mother, who would have turned 22 on August 12, leaves behind a two-year-old son.
Jazreanna Sheppard was 21 years old.
Jazreanna Sheppard Death: Tributes
Sheppard worked in security and concierge services for luxury apartment buildings in the Boston area, the news outlet reported. She was working toward a job at UPS, where her mother worked as a supervisor for more than a decade. Sheppard’s friends and family also told NBC Boston that she was thinking about a career in nursing. Madeline Gonzalex, 45, the victim’s grieving mother, said her daughter “always had her heart open to everyone. She was a very kind… straight student, very, very smart. Kristian Valdés-González, 25, Sheppard’s brother, flew from Florida to Boston the day after hearing the horrible news, The Boston Globe reported. He described his younger sister as devoted to his 2-year-old son. “She was always playing with her son, whether it was on the beach or in the park,” he told the outlet. Earlier this week, Katia Ramos created a GoFundMe to help raise money for funeral expenses. She called Sheppard “loving and inspiring” and said his death is “a great loss to family and friends.”
“On July 20, 2023, our beloved Jazreanna was murdered in the downtown Boston area at the Park Street Station after being violently attacked by individuals,” she wrote Ramos. “The Family decided to donate her organs to heroically save the lives of others,” she said. We are all devastated by the loss of Jazreanna and were not prepared for the high cost of a funeral. We want to give Jaz the memorial she deserves to honor her memory and say our last goodbye. As of Friday afternoon, more than $3,600 had been raised toward their goal of $15,000.
