Jayden McGirt, an 18-year-old high school senior from South Carolina, has been charged with attempted murder after shooting his father because “I can’t deal with him anymore.”
According to WRDW, Jayden McGirt has also been charged with possessing a weapon during a violent incident. Police were alerted to the site by a woman who was helping the victim clean his home in North Augusta. She told officers that everyone had been in a “great mood” all night.
When McGirt’s father instructed his son to go to bed, she stepped into the garage and heard gunshots. She dashed back inside the house, where she discovered the father on the floor and the teen holding a black revolver. When she inquired, what happened, McGirt allegedly replied, “I can’t deal with him anymore.”

Victim was listed in critical condition at Medical Center
When police arrived just before midnight, they discovered the victim, 37, in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the upper right leg. Officers couldn’t tell how many wounds there were because of the blood, according to the police report. According to the report, the father was in and out of consciousness and frequently stated that he “was going to die.” At Augusta University Medical Center, he was listed in critical condition.
McGirt fled the area before authorities arrived, but he was caught sitting on a curb not long away, according to the report. Officers noticed a strong odor of alcohol on the young man, who apologized and said he “loved his dad.”He also informed them that he needed to go to bed so he could get up and go to graduation practice the next morning. Instead, he spent the night in the Aiken County Jail, where he’s being held without bond, according to jail records. The police report also said that officers have responded to the home several times in the past for well-being checks and domestic disputes.
