Jay Morais, a British volunteer warrior entrusted with annihilating Vladimir Putin’s army, was killed in combat after a year on the frontlines.
According to the Telegraph, Bristolian Jay Morais was involved in intense street fighting in the Donbas cities of Severodonetsk and Bakhmut. On Tuesday night, Ukraine’s International Legion, a multi-national fighting group established by President Volodymyr Zelensky last year, confirmed the 52-year-old’s death.
“Unfortunately, Jay Morais died in the line of duty,” a spokeswoman said, declining to elaborate. Mr. Morais is said to have died in a hospital in Kharkiv after being involved in the action with Russian soldiers farther east in late February. His Ukrainian fiancee, Lidiya Martynova, stated he was given a military funeral and cremated in Ukraine. His fiancee scattered half of his ashes in a cemetery in Kyiv, while the other half was returned to the family in the United Kingdom.

According to the 34-year-old, “Jay was a very special guy, beautiful and crazy at the same time.”He was a trained soldier, but he always said that it didn’t matter how many enemies he killed, but how many people he saved.”I still can’t believe he’s gone. Former Three colleague Tony Hackett told the Telegraph that Mr. Morais was a fitness fanatic who cycled 20 miles to work every day.”He was a good guy,” he recalled, “and when the war started, he just felt he had to help, given the training he’d had in the Foreign Legion.” “Your adrenalin is just so high that you’re either completely on it or s— scared.” It’s not about being brave; you’re just wired differently, and you’re not sure how you’ll react, Mr. Morias told the Telegraph last summer. His death is believed to be the fifth British citizen to have died while serving as a volunteer with Ukraine’s armed forces.
