Jan Tchoryk and Jermaine Pelt Wiki – Jan Tchoryk and Jermaine Pelt Biography

Both Jan Tchoryk and firefighter Jermaine Pelt, who had been with the Chicago Fire Department for a number of years, passed away during what commissioner Annette Nance-Holt referred to as a “tragic week.”

This week saw the simultaneous line-of-duty deaths of two Chicago firemen; the municipal fire commissioner described the tragedies as “unprecedented” at a press conference on Wednesday.

Lt. Jan Tchoryk, 55, lost his balance while leading his crew to the scene of a fire that started in an apartment on the 27th level of a high-rise apartment block in the Gold Coast neighborhood on Wednesday. Tchoryk was given CPR at the site before being sent to Northwest Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds, according to Chicago Fire Commissioner Annette Nance-Holt. Nance-Holt declared, “This has been a horrible week for us. “Unprecedented.”

The Chicago Fire Department stated that the high-rise’s 27th floor, where the fire started, lacked sprinklers in a tweet about the event, but Nance-Holt said she thought the entire building was missing sprinklers at Wednesday’s news conference. The fire also injured three additional firefighters, who were sent to the hospital in fair to serious condition. Nance-Holt stated that two people were also treated.

Tragically, two of the Chicago Fire Department’s personnel have passed away

The Chicago Fire Department posted on Facebook to acknowledge both fatalities, saying, “In the course of the last two days, the Chicago Fire Department has tragically lost two of its members while performing their official duties. The most recent member to lose their lives battling a building fire is Lieutenant Jan Tchoryk.

Firefighter/EMT Jermaine Pelt passed away while valiantly battling a fire in the line of duty early this morning, the department announced in a post the day before.

According to ABC, there was a moment of silence for the two deceased firefighters on Wednesday.

According to the story, Interim Chicago Police Superintendent Eric Carter remarked, “I also want to take a moment to acknowledge our brothers and sisters of the Chicago Fire Department as they grieve tremendous losses over the last two days.”

“We train every day to give it our all… But fires can happen everywhere. Nance-Holt stated at the news conference on Wednesday, “Right now I have two funerals to arrange for, two mourning families, and a big department that’s broken, including the command staff. “They are in ruins.”

Plans for both men’s funerals are not yet known. You can donate to Pelt’s family here.
