James Bulger Wiki – Bio

James Bulger was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered 30 years ago. Now, his dejected brother has reportedly said that he will never forgive the little boy’s killers, as his family has launched a new appeal for Jon Venables to remain behind bars.

Bulger was just two years old when he was abducted from a shopping center in Bootle, Merseyside, on February 12, 1993. His brutally wounded body was discovered two days later, several miles away, on a railway track. Police arrested two boys, then known as Jon Venables and Robert Thompson, for murdering the boy. The two 10-year-old boys reportedly tortured the baby with bricks and a metal bar and sexually abused him before dumping his body near the train tracks. Venables and Thompson were released from prison on licenses under new identities in 2001. However, Venables was jailed in 2010 and 2017 for accumulating nearly 1,200 child abuse images, the Daily Mail reported.

Brother of slain Bulger says he will never forgive the killer as he talks about heartbreak 30 years

Speaking ahead of the 30th anniversary of Bulger’s murder, his brother, Michael Fergus, 29, said he would never forgive his brother’s killers, adding that Venables must remain behind bars. Fergus was only eight months old when Bulger was murdered and couldn’t meet him, but he grew up with tragedy shadowing his life. “My brother’s killers will never be forgiven. They took my older brother, who I never got to know,” Fergus told the Sunday Express, adding: “They stole my childhood, in a nutshell.”

Fergus also criticized the concessions given to his brother’s killers, including releasing him under new identities. “I try not to think about his killers, but I still hate them for what they did. It’s disgusting the way they’ve been treated,” Fergus continued. He added that “justice for James” meant “keeping Venables behind bars” to bring “peace of mind” to the family, particularly his mother. The grieving brother still lives near her mother Denise and her husband Stuart, in northwest England. Denise and Bulger’s father, Ralph, 56, decided to end his marriage in 1995 after they were unable to process the death of his son.

Attorney General and Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab told him that criminals like Jon Venables never deserve to get out of prison

Fergus spoke out just days after Ralph revealed that Justice Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab told him he agreed that “criminals like Venables never deserve to get out of prison.” “His words from him were a great relief and comfort to me. His support gives me a ray of hope after 30 long years of fighting against a system that never wanted to listen,” Ralph told The Sun. He added that the Secretary of Justice spoke to him as a father and said that he “could not even imagine the lack of love and pain” that he suffered.

Ralph went on to say that Raab wanted to enact harsher punishments for criminals like Venables. “Having a powerful politician on your side is a big change after 30 years of being beaten up by the system. I don’t expect miracles, but I trust that he will do everything he can,” Ralph said. Speaking about the murderers of his son, Ralph said: “You’ve got to stay one step ahead of Venables. He’s the number one enemy of vulnerable children. Let him out and he’ll kill another kid like James.”

Raab has reportedly said that he “would do everything in his power” to keep dangerous criminals in jail. “The deputy prime minister will do everything in his power to keep dangerous criminals behind bars and has laid out plans to review the probation process and put victims at the center of the process,” a ministry spokesman said.
