Illiana Palella, 17, the victim – Family and friends have paid tribute to a Bundaberg teenager who died in a car accident in Queensland.
On Tuesday, Illiana was killed in an accident between a Prosegur security armored vehicle and a car at Childers, 300 kilometers north of Brisbane. She was flown from the crash site to Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital, but she died as a result of her injuries. Mackenzie Blackburn, Ms. Palella’s friend, has started a campaign to help support the victim’s family. Ms. Palella was described as a ‘lovely friend of many’.
‘Whether it was her colleagues, friends, or strangers, everyone knew she could make anyone smile,’ she explained. Ms. Blackburn met Ms. Palella while working at Bundaberg’s Hinkler Centre Woolworths. Jaime Shipp paid tribute to her pal on social media as well. I’m going to miss you so much can’t believe you’re not coming home rest easy my darling child,’ Ms Shipp wrote on Facebook.
She was described as ‘loyal, compassionate, and cheerful’ by another friend. Ms. Palella was recalled as a shy, gentle girl’ by Riylee Sutton. She was fearless. ‘She was devoted, compassionate, and lively, and she would never leave your side,’ Ms Sutton said. A Woolworths Hinkler spokeswoman stated that counseling was arranged for Ms. Palella’s friends and coworkers.

Ms. Palella’s death was confirmed by her family on Thursday, following the early morning incident on Tuesday at 5.27 a.m. She was said to be on her way back from a social engagement when the tragedy occurred. Ms. Palella was airlifted to Brisbane by two LifeFlight helicopters and four fire and rescue crews, but she died from her injuries. A guy who had been rescued from the wreckage was airlifted to Bundaberg for treatment before being transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.
A second man was rushed to Bundaberg Hospital in critical but stable condition, while two other men in the security vehicle escaped with minor injuries. The road was stopped for about six hours while police and rescue teams attempted to free the injured and conduct an investigation into the collision.
