She also praised their family and close friends for their love and support “during these difficult years of Ian’s long battle with dementia.” She also acknowledged the medical staff at Frimley Park Hospital, the managers and carers at Lynwood Care Home, and the physicians and nurses at both facilities.

Prior to forming Pilot in 1973 with former Bay City Rollers players David Paton and Bill Lyall, he worked as a session guitarist.
