Hussein Quig-Diop, a 13-year-old boy died after colliding with a truck while riding his bicycle to school. Football fan Hussein Quig-Diop suffered multiple injuries after colliding with a Renault truck at an intersection on Wednesday morning. The truck driver remained at the scene and was treated for shock. Hussein was a fan of musician Nathan Dawe, who grew up in Burton upon Trent and owns a restaurant in the town. The musician described the news of Hussein’s death as “absolutely heartbreaking” and shared photos of the couple on social media. Dawe, who has scored four top 20 hits including Lighter, with rapper and YouTuber KSI, donated £1,000 to a crowdfunding page set up to help his family. ‘The 13-year-old subscriber died yesterday in tragic circumstances while he was on his way to school. Hussein, a student at John Taylor Free School, became a dedicated Brewers fan in recent years after two of his uncles introduced him to the club. He regularly traveled with them to home and away games. “He also became a recognizable figure for several first-team players and club officials, where he could regularly be seen waiting at the players’ entrance to receive autographs and photographs.” Hussein’s school also confirmed the news on social media. One of the uncles who introduced Hussein to Burton Albion, nicknamed the Brewers because of Burton upon Trent’s brewing heritage, said it had been a “pleasure” to call the boy a nephew. West Mercia Police said officers were appealing for witnesses to the collision on Shobnall Road, next to the Wellington Road junction in Burton.
