Harrison Marvin, 36, a “dancing doorman,” died after a “brawl” broke out in Manchester. Heartbroken friends have paid tribute to him and a man has been detained on suspicion of murder.
The man who died as a result of the ‘brawl’ at Levenshulme has been named by friends as Harrison Marvin. Mr Marvin suffered fatal injuries after a ‘brawl’ broke out on Rushmere Avenue on Sunday night. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder, police said. A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said he remained in police custody on Tuesday morning. Mr. Marvin’s friends and colleagues have now paid tribute to him, describing him as “kind and caring” with the “best smile”. They said he worked as a bouncer in bars in the Stockport area, and was affectionately known as ‘The Dancing Doorman’.
Shaun, owner of I-Guard security where Mr Marvin worked, said: “We are deeply saddened by the news and Harrison’s murder.” Taken too soon, Harrison was a terrific employee who will be sorely missed by myself, our management and ultimately his colleagues with whom he worked. “Harrison was a fantastic person who had a great personality and earned the title ‘The Dancing Goalie’. Yesterday I put flowers outside his house when we got the news, we were all in disbelief and shock. He really was a big part of the I-Guard family. ‘Our condolences and condolences to his family. Truly black and gold forever. Friend Elleleigh said: ‘My G Harrison, you are simply the best, I will miss you so much. I am honestly lost for words. ‘We are really going to miss you very much, my friend. It’s not goodbye, it’s a see you later. All my Love.’

Friends Danny, Matty, Mike and Jack said, ‘Harrison, where do we all start? You were the best doorman, the best friend, and the best smile in the room. All of Hazel Grove will miss you dearly. Another friend Dion said: “We were like his family, our door company is devastated to lose such a fun and devoted employee.” He always made everyone laugh and always had a smile on his face no matter what. “You are really going to be missed by your family and friends.” And colleague Corrinne added: ‘The news that Harrison was taken has shocked all of us here at I-guard. Harrison would always arrive at work with a smile on his face and ready to entertain customers with his own dance moves.
‘You will always be remembered by us as the ‘dancing goalkeeper’ may our i-guard brother rest in peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.” Following the incident on Sunday, a cordon was placed on a stretch of Rushmere Avenue. Crime scene investigation tape was placed around several row houses. Residents described their “utter shock” when forensic officers carried out the investigations. In a previously issued statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “At around 8:50pm on Sunday 9 July 2023, officers received reports of a fight between two men in Rushmere Avenue, Lenshulmeve. The victim, a 36 year old male, was found with serious injuries and sadly pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Investigations are ongoing at this stage.
