Harold Thompson, an angry Texas man, killed his girlfriend on Wednesday after learning she had traveled to a pro-choice state for an abortion.
According to Dallas police, Harold Thompson, 22, was charged with murder in the shooting death of Gabriella Gonzalez, 26, in a strip mall parking lot. According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Gonzalez had just returned from a nearly 800-mile trip to Colorado, where abortion is permitted at all stages of pregnancy. Abortions are illegal in Texas after six weeks, save in circumstances of medical urgency. “It is believed that the suspect was the father of the child,” according to the affidavit. “The suspect did not want (Gonzalez) to get an abortion.”

Woman shot and killed in West Oak Cliff parking lot over abortion
According to the complaint, surveillance video from the parking lot shows the pair bickering at 7:30 a.m. before Thompson grabbed Gonzalez and puts her in a chokehold. Gonzalez “shrugs him off,” according to authorities, as the two continue walking. Thompson allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Gonzalez in the head at that point. According to police, he shot her multiple times while she lay on the ground before fleeing. Gonzalez died at the site.
Thompson was accused of abusing a female family member after choking her in March at the time of the incident. Even though the affidavit did not name the victim, she was most likely Gonzalez. The victim claimed police Thompson “beat her up multiple times throughout the entirety of their relationship,” according to the statement. Thompson allegedly informed cops that the woman was pregnant with his child at the time. According to the affidavit, the victim “reiterated that she is scared of the suspect because he has made threats to harm her family and her children.”
