Freddy Perham was recently discovered dead, months after he went missing. He had not been seen since September 20 of last year. He reportedly disappeared from his home in the Stolford area of Somerset.
After he went missing, a search operation was launched in which more than 100 police officers and numerous search and rescue workers searched for him. Nothing fruitful happened for many months. But on January 30, a member of the public, identified as John Plowright, was reported to have discovered his remains in a water-filled ditch in the Steart Marshes near Bridgwater, Somerset.

Family of Freddy Perham thank search teams
Reports say that official identification of the body has been made and the family informed of it. Now, he pointed out a statement from the relatives of the 17-year-old boy. “There are no words to describe the overwhelming pain we have as a family for the loss of Freddy. The five months that Freddy was missing were torture, without knowing where he was or if he was alive.
The statement also went on to say, “While the news of his death is devastating, now that he has been found and returned to our family, we can put Freddy to rest and mourn. His carefree and infectious spirit was loved and cherished by all of his family and friends, and knowing that we will never experience that again leaves us with a huge void that can never be filled. We hope that he is now at peace. Freddy, our son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, will be missed terribly.”
The family did not end their statement there, as they also expressed their gratitude towards law enforcement and authorities. They added: “To the police, we thank you for your tireless efforts to find Freddy. The care you have shown us will not be forgotten.
“We know that the police received the support of many other specialized search agencies and volunteers and we also thank you for giving us so much of yourselves. To our friends, our community, and all the people we have never met who offered their prayers, support, and time, we are grateful and have no doubt that their care and compassion was felt every day.”
Meanwhile, reports have said that an inquest into Freedy’s death has been launched but adjourned to November 2023, taking place at Somerset Coroner’s Court in Taunton.

Many people have shared their tributes to the young man and their condolences to his family on social networks. One Facebook user commented: “This is so sad my thoughts are with his family 😔😢 xx.” The second wrote: “This was very sad news to hear. I will always remember Freddy as a very young school boy with his luscious locks of blonde hair arriving at elementary school in the morning. He was always a free spirit. I hope that he is now at peace. Much love to the family, we are all thinking of you during such a tragic time xx.”
“Heartbreaking 💔 RIP The young man’s thoughts and prayers are with his family 🙏,” the third user posted. The fourth user added: “I always think of Freddy when I’m fishing at Steart beach, it’s like I can feel his spirit around me. Such a sad loss 😞”.
