Fraser Thomson, 41, the ex-boyfriend of a mother of three who showed up at her home in the middle of the night allegedly armed with a machete, has been charged with attempted murder.
Mr. Thomson allegedly broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend, speech therapist Lauren Salamakis, 35, in Kellyville, Sydney, around 2.30 am. Tuesday. Ms. Salamakis, her three children, and her ex-husband Paul Salamakis, 39, were staying at the $1.85 million property in northwest Syndey when Thomson allegedly threatened them with a machete. When police arrived on the quiet suburban street, they found Thomson suffering severe lacerations to his forearms and Mr. Salamakis covered in cuts on his hands. Both men were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital, both in stable condition, where Thomson was kept under police guard before being taken to Castle Hill Police Station.

On Tuesday night, Thomason was charged with attempted murder. An NSW Police spokesperson said: “On being released from the hospital, the man was taken to Castle Hill Police Station where he was charged with trespassing and assault with intent to murder, trespassing and inflict GBH on any person, with special aggravating factors”. Breaking in and committing an indictable felony-injury and violating the prohibition/restriction in AVO.’ Thomson was denied bail and he will appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow. Ms. Salamakis and the three children were shaken but unharmed, police said. Speaking to Daily Mail Australia from the hospital on Tuesday, her ex-husband Salamakis said she is on the mend and is doing well under the circumstances. Ms Salamakis runs a speech pathology company in North West Sydney.
According to her company’s website, she has “extensive experience working in school settings with school-age children, families, and her teachers on a variety of communication issues.” Her areas of interest include helping teachers support children in the classroom context and early intervention and supporting children with autism spectrum disorder. Mr. Salamakis is the general manager of two The Coffee Club stores owned by his mother and his sister. In 2016, he made headlines after speaking out in support of a family ravaged by cancer while working at a McDonald’s in Mount Druitt. Police searched the surrounding streets and obtained CCTV and witness accounts. A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing, with uniformed police officers and plain-clothes detectives inside the property along with forensic teams. Agents were seen taking statements from residents on the quiet cul-de-sac, where homes cost more than $1 million.
