Evelyn Geer the victim – Officials reported Friday that they had discovered the body of a 4-year-old girl who had wandered away from her family’s holiday home in Florida.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, the remains of Evelyn K. Geer were discovered on the bank of a canal near Port Charlotte by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boat. According to the sheriff, the area was behind a home the family had leased from VRBO.

“We are heartbroken to confirm that the body of 4-year-old Evelyn K. Geer has been discovered,” the sheriff said in a statement. “While searching by boat, the FWC found her about an hour ago.” Please remember the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” the sheriff’s office concluded.
Officials said the sheriff dispatched a bloodhound to look for the diaper-clad girl in a neighborhood surrounded by Barksdale Street, Cochran Boulevard, and Collingswood Boulevard, roughly 30 miles north of Fort Myers. Cochran was stopped during the search, but it has already reopened to traffic.
