Erick Joseph Kristianson, a professional cheerleading coach accused of exposing himself to adolescent girls in Florida and fondling another child, is now suspected of abusing six young athletes as young as 11 in California, according to authorities.
Erick Joseph Kristianson, 44, of Antioch, Tennessee, was arrested on a warrant in Fargo, North Dakota, on Monday for allegedly assaulting six girls while teaching at a competitive cheer club and a high school in Mission Viejo, California. Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer revealed the decision in a statement issued on Wednesday.
Spitzer charged Kristianson with seven felony counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor under 14; five felony counts of lewd acts on a child aged 14 or 15; two felony counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object of a minor under 18; one felony count of sexual penetration by a foreign object of a minor under 16; and one felony count of oral copulation of a person under 16 years old.
If convicted on all charges, Kristianson faces a maximum sentence of 105 years to life in prison plus five years and four months. According to online court documents, he has been extradited to California and is being jailed without bail. He is due to appear in court. It’s unknown whether he’s hired an attorney to speak on his behalf.

Former California cheerleading coach charged with molesting young girls
“Pedophiles will never stop stalking and grooming their prey unless and until they are stopped,” Spitzer stated in a statement. “This was not a predator lurking in the shadows waiting to prey on helpless girls,” he explained. “He was hiding in plain sight as he assaulted girl after girl, confident that he would not be caught because they trusted him as a coach.”
“Thankfully, he is in custody, and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office will do everything possible to hold him accountable for assaulting these young girls who trusted him.”Kristianson was out on bail for suspected child molestation and child exhibition charges linked to four juvenile competitive cheer athletes he coached in Daytona Beach at the time of his arrest for the Orange County allegations, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
According to Spitzer, the allegations against Kristianson involving the California teens “came to light in 2022 after he was arrested in Daytona Beach, Florida, on suspicion of masturbating on camera to three children between the ages of 11 and 13 and touching the breasts of another 13-year-old girl.” According to the statement, all of the alleged victims in Florida were members of Kristianson’s competitive cheer club in Daytona Beach. According to Spitzer’s statement, after news reports about Kristianson’s arrest in Florida broke, a young woman contacted Orange County authorities to accuse she was assaulted by Kristianson beginning when she was 14 years old while he was her cheer coach.

Charged with Picking up the girl from school and engaging in sexual activity
Kristianson is charged with “picking up the girl from school or taking her home from cheer practice and engaging in sexual activity with her until she turned 16,” according to the complaint. Kristianson worked as a competitive cheerleading coach at Magic All-Stars Cheer in Anaheim from 2002 to 2008 and as an assistant cheerleading coach at Trabuco Hills High School in Mission Viejo in 2005, where he is accused of gaining access to six young girls in Orange County who he allegedly molested, according to Spitzer.
Kristianson is accused of assaulting five more Orange County girls he coached between 2002 and 2007, taking some of the girls to off-campus events and his house to molest them. The girls’ ages ranged from 11 to 16 years. One of the cheerleaders dropped out when Kristianson allegedly assaulted her at his home, although she did not report the alleged abuse at the time. Kristianson was caught on a warrant in Kansas in August 2022 and extradited to Florida to face charges for exposing himself to three underage females during a FaceTime call.
He posted a $300,000 bond and was freed from the Volusia County Branch Jail in Florida the following month, with no limitations on leaving the state. Kristianson is being held without bail at the Theo Lacy Facility in Orange right now. Authorities suspect there could be further victims.
