Erick Aguirre, a Texas man, was arrested after police say he fatally shot a man imitating a valet staff before returning to his date and telling her “everything was fine.” According to the Associated Press, Erick Aguirre paid Elliot Nix $40 to park but discovered inside the Houston burger business that he had been duped.
Authorities claim Aguirre, 29, and his date parked their cars near a restaurant on Lamar Street and Saint Emanuel Street when Nix, 46, approached them and told them it would cost $20 apiece to park their cars, according to the outlet.
According to NBC-2 in Houston, witnesses saw Aguirre race to his car, get a revolver, and chase Nix. He allegedly then fatally shot Nix before abandoning him on the street. According to the Associated Press, Nix was rushed to the hospital and died.

Aguirre returned to the restaurant and allegedly told his date, whose name has not been revealed, that “everything was fine” and that he only terrified Nix. According to court records, the pair started strolling to a seat but departed to eat somewhere else after Aguirre appeared uneasy.
According to court filings, the date lasted hours into the evening, according to the Associated Press. Aguirre was charged with murder in Nix’s death on April 11. The bond for his arrest was set at $200,000. On Friday night, his attorney, Brent Mayr, did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
At the time of the shooting, Aguirre was already on probation for aggravated assault in South Texas, according to prosecutors. According to the Associated Press, his date phoned authorities two days later after images of the duo were released. The woman’s attorney, Rick DeToto, told NBC-2 that “she wanted to do the right thing.” She was determined to come out and tell the police what she knew.”
