Emma Pattison, the headmistress of the private Epsom College school was found dead along with her husband and seven-year-old daughter on property on school grounds. Emma Pattison, her husband George, 39, and her daughter Lettie were found dead at 01:10 GMT on Sunday.

Emma Pattison became Epsom’s first Headmistress in September 2022 after six years as Headmistress at Croydon Secondary School in South London. The director’s husband, George, was a chartered accountant who was a director of a management consulting firm called Tanglewood in 2016, according to Companies House. Surrey police said they were called to the private school by the South East Coast Ambulance Service. Police said they were confident it was an isolated incident “with no third-party involvement”. An investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of their deaths. Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey said: “On behalf of Surrey Police, my team, and I, I first want to express my deepest condolences to the friends and family of Emma, Lettie, and George, as well as the students and staff of Epsom College, on his tragic loss. “I want to ensure that we will carry out a thorough investigation into what happened last night and I hope that I can bring some peace to these traumatic circumstances. Whilst this is believed to be an isolated incident, over the next few days our Local officials will remain in the area to offer reassurance to students, parents, teachers, and the local community. “I would like to thank the school and community for their understanding and patience as the investigation continues.”

Surrey Police added that all three deaths have been reported to the coroner. Boarding students at the university pay more than £42,000 a year, and its alumni include Conservative MP Sir Michael Fallon, broadcaster Jeremy Vine and his brother, comedian Tim Vine. The school, which is attended by both boys and girls, was founded in 1853 and describes itself as one of the best schools in the UK, based on exam results.
