Ellie Boswell, a 21-year-old woman described as “always happy” was found dead in her apartment after her sister was suddenly unable to contact her. Ellie Boswell had graduated from university just months before her tragic death, the Liverpool Echo reports.
The mental health worker, originally from Wythenshawe, Manchester, studied performing arts at Edge Hill College in Lancashire, graduating in the summer of 2021. But on September 19 of the same year, Ellie was discovered dead in her apartment, where she lived alone, having taken her own life.

Her sister, Connah Proudman, had contacted emergency services after having difficulty reaching her after a night out the night before. To pay tribute, Connah remembered her sister as a hard-working person who was apparently “always happy.” The 26-year-old said: “She was a hard worker. She was an amazing singer.” “She was so happy and lit up any room she walked into. She had to work really hard to get into college.” When she knew what she wanted, she would make sure to get it.” The sisters moved to Merseyside from Manchester around 12 years ago, before studying performing arts at Edge Hill University. After graduating from college, she realized that she wanted to work as a mental health support worker.

Raising charity dedicated to preventing suicide
Ellie had recently been offered the opportunity to join the military in a similar role, which she would go along with a master’s degree to ensure she was fully qualified. Ellie was buried the day before her 22nd birthday on October 6, 2021, leaving behind Connah and her 13-year-old younger brother Frankie. Her sister is now raising money on Ellie’s behalf for PAPYRUS, a UK charity dedicated to preventing suicide and promoting positive mental health and emotional well-being in young people. She hopes to raise awareness among young people about suicide.
