Eleanor Williams Wiki – Bio

Eleanor Williams 22-year-old woman, whose lies sparked a storm of anger and protests after she falsely claimed she was the victim of an Asian grooming gang, has been jailed for eight and a half years. Eleanor Williams was sentenced at Preston Crown Court on Tuesday for perverting the course of justice. She fabricated evidence to make it appear that she was the victim of various men, including using a hammer to inflict injuries on herself. Three men whom Williams had falsely accused of attacking her said they had tried to take her life because of her accusations.

The 22-year-old from Barrow-in-Furness was found guilty of perverting the course of justice in January. During a sentencing hearing at Preston Crown Court, Mohammed Ramzan said the lies had made his life “hell on earth”. Ramzan said that two weeks after he was arrested following Williams’ claims, he attempted to take his own life. He said: “I still have the scars to this day.” Ramzan said his property had been damaged and his business “ruined” after he and his family were attacked “in the most horrendous way.” I received countless death threats on social media from people all over the world because of what they thought was involved,” he said.

In a statement read in court, Jordan Trengove said the word “rapist” had been spray-painted on his home. He said he spent 73 days in prison, sharing a cell with a convicted sex offender after he was charged as a result of Williams’s claims. He said: “Things had calmed down a bit until the Facebook post in 2020. This made things even worse for me. There were huge protests and marches in Barrow. The lowest point was when I tried to end my life in August 2020.”

Oliver Gardner said his chance meeting with Williams in Preston led to his being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Gardner, who has been charged with rape, said it came as a “real shock” when Cumbria Police contacted him and told him of his claims. He said: “It was just a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.” In his statement, he said that he tried to end his life before being sectioned. Cameron Bibby, who was the first man accused of rape by Williams in 2017, said she had to withdraw from most social media because of the abuse and was afraid to pick up her son from daycare because of the way people looked at him. He said that after Williams posted his account on Facebook, his neighbors put “Justice for Ellie” stickers on his windows, which “intimidated” him.
