Dylan Arrington, 22, was killed during the altercation after authorities traced him to a home where he had barricaded himself. Soon after the police standoff in Leake County, Mississippi, the property caught fire.
He was among the detainees who fled the Raymond Detention Centre on Saturday, along with Casey Grayson, 24, Gorey Harrison, 22, and Jerry Raynes. The three other escapees are still being sought by police. Arrington is suspected of murdering 61-year-old pastor Anthony Watts on Monday, following his daring escape from prison. Watts stopped to assist a motorbike driver who had wrecked, but the vehicle had been stolen just moments before.

According to police, Arrington shot the Good Samaritan before fleeing in his pickup. The four inmates fled from the jail on Saturday through holes in a cell and the roof, and it wasn’t until a headcount at 12:30 a.m. on Sunday that officials realized they were gone.
Arrington was initially imprisoned on allegations of auto theft and weapons possession. Watts, the pastor of St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church in D’Lo, Mississippi, was allegedly murdered by him around 7 p.m. on Monday.
A federal judge ordered an unprecedented takeover of the jail in July, citing shortcomings in supervision and staffing as the cause of a staggering assortment of assaults, as well as deaths.’ After the county filed a motion for reconsideration, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals delayed the order in December.
