Dereck Owusu and Louis James the suspects – Two men from Yorkshire have been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a young parent who rushed to the assistance of a 17-year-old girl who was being attacked.
Reece Radford, 26, died six days after being accosted by Owusu and James from a single stab wound to the chest. Owusu, 40, of Strathmore Grove, Rotherham, and James, 46, of Manor Lane, Sheffield, were both sentenced to life in prison with minimum terms of 15 and 25 years, respectively, at Sheffield Crown Court. Mr. Radford’s mother, Laura Radford, said in a statement read out at Sheffield Crown Court, “It was not just my son who was killed that night, my family was killed, my heart is broken.”

Yorkshire couple sentenced to life in prison for killing Reece Radford
“Reece was the family’s life and soul. He’d light up a room the moment he walked in. He wasn’t simply my son; he was also my best friend, soulmate, and everything to me. “It kills me to know I’ll never see his big brown eyes, hear his laugh, or watch him grow into the best daddy ever.” That is no longer available to us.” Our hearts will never heal from the loss of Reece – he was special and loved beyond life,” Ms. Radford wrote. “According to police, Owusu and James saw the 17-year-old girl on Arundel Gate in Sheffield city center shortly before 1 a.m. on September 29. They also stated that the couple shared drinks with her before a violent altercation erupted, which resulted in Owusu hitting the adolescent in the face. Officers said Mr. Radford behaved as a “good Samaritan” by stepping in to help the girl, hitting Owusu in the face.
