Dejan ‘Danny’ Radulovic, 29, was beaten and stabbed multiple times in the torso by two men at around 3:40 p.m. m. Saturday on Donnelly Street in Balmain, in the inner-west of the city. His killers fled the scene in a white Jeep, before dumping it and setting it on fire on a residential street near Five Dock. They are still on the run. The young victim was taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but doctors were unable to save her life. Radulovic was on drug supply probation at the time, and police suspect the attack was a drug-related dispute. A family friend told Daily Mail Australia that Mr Radulovic’s mother, Liliana Jovanovic, is heartbroken: “she is suffering a lot,” they said. She has cancer, she needs back surgery because of the condition she has and it’s making life extremely difficult for her to manage without help.’ She “needs stable housing, since she is in temporary accommodation and it is not fair that she is in this position going through what she is.”

The family friend explained that Ms Jovanovic’s other child has been in a mental health ward for the past week and that Mr Radulovic was “her baby of hers” of hers. “He will always be loved, cherished and missed not only by his family, but also by his friends and those who have had the opportunity to hear how much his mother loves him,” the friend said. Radulovic’s self-described sister, Dolliana, said she was “never going to get over” his death, adding that there were things she wanted to tell him, but the opportunity slipped away. “I just hope he rests in peace,” she said. Police believe Radulovic had low-level ties to organized crime. He was paroled in April after serving nine of a 16-month jail sentence for supplying drugs. He was also found guilty of possession of a prohibited weapon without a permit and possession of ammunition, and was sentenced to a community correctional order that was still in effect when he died. Detective Chief Inspector Grant Watson of Leichhardt Command said on Sunday that police are investigating connections to organized crime.”The two men who were involved in this incident describe themselves as Maori or Pacific Islanders,” he said. “They were seen running from a burning vehicle and then got into another vehicle which was a light-colored Toyota Hilux.” Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Leichhardt Police Area Command or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
