Dean Davis, an Oklahoma state representative was caught on film yelling at police that they couldn’t arrest him for public drunkenness because he’s a politician and above the law. Dean Davis, 50, ran into police last Thursday when he and friends refused to leave Skinny Slims bar in Broken Arrow.
Although the bar was closed, the group continued to drink on the outdoor patio. Davis, a Republican, appeared insulted and confused in newly released body camera videos, with the politician demanding that the arresting officers call his supervisors and warn them of the consequences to come.

“You picked the wrong person, congratulations,” Davis can be heard telling the officers, as he claimed he had “the privilege of being arrested during the session of the Legislature.”nPolice ignored the entitled politician as they handcuffed him and took him to jail. “You can’t stop me!” k, realizing that the officers didn’t care about his position. “I can, and I am right now,” said the sgt. replied Timothy Brewer.
Oklahoma City police said no one had called to complain about Davis and his friends, but it was Brewer and a police lieutenant who spotted the group while patrolling the area at 2 a.m. last Thursday. The officers warned the group to get out of the shuttered business, but said the group refused and “argued.” That’s when Davis took his wallet to show his legislative credentials and warned the officers that they had been “wrong.”

Footage shows Davis continuing to argue with Brewer
In his arrest report, Brewer noted that a bar employee had also asked the group to leave before closing time, but they ignored her and said they were a group of lawmakers. Additional footage from inside the squad car shows Davis continuing to argue with Brewer, demanding to know how he could arrest him without first taking a breathalyzer test. “There’s nothing to answer,” Brewer told Davis. “Your speech is slurred, you smell alcohol on your breath, and you can’t understand or obey simple instructions.” Davis has denied any wrongdoing in the matter. He did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.The politician alleges that he was not drinking alcohol at the time of the arrest, a claim backed by state Rep. T.J. Marti, who was at the bar that night, reports Non Doc Friday. The Oklahoma City Fraternal Order of Police, which Davis had warned he would back him on the night of the arrest, instead backed Brewer and praised the officer.
“The detention and arrest of Representative Davis was completely justified,” Mark Nelson, the group’s president, said in a statement. “Our officers must deal with circumstances that are difficult and require a great deal of patience. We are proud of how Sgt. Brewer represented himself and the police department.” Thursday’s arrest was the second time Davis has been booked since taking office in 2019. Last September, he was placed on probation for a 2019 DUI, where he was charged with driving under the influence, speeding and obstructing a police officer.
