Daniela Mendoza and Sofia Wiki – Daniela Mendoza and Sofia Biography
Wylie ISD announced that two girls, fourth-grader Daniela Mendoza and her sister, Sofia, were slain in Saturday’s horrific shooting at Allen Premium Outlets.
Ilda, their mother, is still in serious condition. Wylie Elite was where both sisters did cheering instruction. The gym expressed its grief on Facebook, writing: Our gym has been personally affected by the Allen Outlet tragedy. Two of the victims, who were sisters and died this past weekend, not only took Wylie Elite classes but are also nieces to one of our team’s families. Our hearts go out to these families. They have stated that yellow is one of their favorite colors. We want everyone to wear yellow this week to honor these young ladies. Please also pray for all of the afflicted families.
Krista Wilson, Daniela and Sofia’s principal praised them as “rays of sunshine.” The district informed parents and students of the “heartbreaking situation” affecting one of its elementary campuses in a letter. Words cannot explain how sorry we are as we mourn the loss of our students. Our hearts go out to the Mendoza family, the relatives of the victims, and everyone affected by this awful tragedy.” A crisis team has been deployed to Cheri Cox Elementary School, where Daniela and Sofia both attended. However, the school has stated that it will not inform kids of the girls’ deaths, instead leaving that discussion to parents.
Daniela Mendoza and Sofia’s age was not mentioned.

The children’s aunt has set up a GoFundMe page to help the family. She claims that nothing in the world can ever heal the gap left by the daughters’ deaths. “It is with great sadness that we inform you that our beloved Daniel and Sofia have died. On May 6, 2023, they were sadly snatched from us by a terrible act. Their mother is still in the hospital. We’d want to thank everyone who has reached out and offered their help and support. Please keep our now-broken family in your prayers. Nothing in the world can ever fill the emptiness left by the girls. Please keep their mother, my sister, and her broken heart in your prayers. Please also pray for their father, who, despite his ordeal, has remained wonderfully strong. They will be remembered and adored for the rest of their lives.”
Daniela and Sofia were not the only children killed in the shooting. James Cho, three, his mother Cindy, and his father Kyu were also killed. According to officials, James’ six-year-old brother survived the shooting. Allen was the 242nd mass shooting in the United States this year, according to the Mass Shooting Tracker. Eight people were killed, and seven are still hospitalized. Their ages range from five to 61. Medical City Healthcare says it is still treating six victims of the shooting at three different locations. Three patients are critically ill, two are in fair condition, and one is in good health.
The FBI is now aiding the Allen Police Department in this investigation, and anyone with information on the incident is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI.
