Daniel Allsop, 38, was found at the entrance to a branch of the fast food chain in Blackpool, Lancashire, at around 4.30pm. of Monday. He was taken to the hospital where he died Wednesday surrounded by his family. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma. A 29-year-old man of no fixed address, arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder, remains in police custody. Daniel’s family have paid tribute to him and said he will be “dearly missed” by all who knew him. In a statement issued through Lancashire Police, they said: “We have lost a son, a father, a brother, a grandson, an uncle, a nephew and a cousin. He passed peacefully surrounded by his immediate family. “He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.”

DCI Jill Johnston, of Lancashire Police, said it was an isolated incident and asked anyone with any information to come forward. She said: ‘My thoughts are very much with Daniel’s family at this heartbreaking and extremely difficult time for them. ‘This is a rapidly progressing investigation and although we have made an arrest, our investigations are still ongoing. ‘We believe Daniel was assaulted on Bethesda Road, in the middle of a busy city centre, in broad daylight. “He would ask anyone who was in the area, perhaps on foot or in their vehicle or on public transport, who saw anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem to them, to contact us.” DCI Johnston added: ‘We are aware that there have been a number of high profile incidents in Blackpool recently which will understandably cause some concern to our community. “I would like to assure residents that this investigation is being treated as an isolated incident.” Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting log 431 of 7 October 2023 or contact Crimestoppers.
