Father-of-two Dale Mooney, 53, of Newmarket, New Hampshire, died following an incident in the 300-level segment of the stadium just before 11 p.m. Sunday. The Norfolk County Prosecutor’s Office said police responded to calls for medical help in the section at 10:57 p.m. and that “the matter remains under active investigation.” A photo from the stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, shows paramedics struggling to revive someone who is out of reach on the ground as worried fans look on. The videos also show security trying to break up a fight and medics administering CPR a short time later. A witness at the scene, Joseph Kilmartin, described the alleged attack by a Miami Dolphins fan as “hard to watch.” “They started fighting for a few minutes,” Kilmartin told WCVB. ‘At one point, another Dolphins fan approached. He punched him three times and the man just walked away. “It was pretty hard to watch.”

Several other anonymous witnesses gave similar descriptions of the “brutal” attack that caused Mooney to “fall apart,” while speaking to Boston 10 at the scene. “One word I can really use is shocking,” said a passerby. ‘My thoughts are with that man’s family. It’s horrible what happened,’ another person commented. Mooney’s devastated wife said she felt “stuck” after hearing the horrible news about her husband and father of two, who has been a dedicated Patriots season ticket holder for three decades. “I feel paralyzed, I can’t even believe this is real,” Lisa Mooney told WCVB. ‘I don’t understand why people have to go to that extreme. Why can’t it just be fun? That’s all it’s supposed to be, just a fun family event.’ She added that her husband had no known medical condition that would cause her to faint and that he “has the patience of a saint.” “I don’t know what happened… it takes a lot to make him angry,” she said. The District Attorney’s Office said the investigation into her death was following “normal protocol” and that an autopsy would be performed in the coming days. No arrests have been made in the incident.
